Pedagogical methods and a set of authentic resources used in the French Heritage
Language Program will be presented. This program created in 2005 is offered two

Proficiency testing provides insights into needs of receptive bilinguals,
heritage and native speakers. Presenters will share specifications and data
from Spanish reading and writing exams. Participants will rate texts, analyze

students and their communities. Credit by examination is evidence of value
placed on students’ heritage languages. This session presents development of a
Hmong proficiency assessment for students to earn credit and earn the Minnesota
world language proficiency certificate.
